First Session – 90 minutes

An initial session with Lynda is 90 minutes, and includes:

  • Discussion of your particular interests, experience, and intentions re meditation (includes completion of a brief questionnaire)
  • Selecting the best technique(s) and process for your particular situation
  • Being guided through a meditation using the techniques and process agreed upon
  • Reflection and discussion regarding your experience
  • Specific tips and planning for successfully continuing your practice over time

Investment: $120

Subsequent 1-hour meditation sessions can be scheduled as desired, to continue working with meditation students who wish further support for their practice.

Lynda “Ma Shanti” Terry

Lynda “Ma Shanti” Terry has been practicing meditation for more than 25 years and has taught others to meditate since the early 1990s. Her study of meditation has included both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, such as Transcendental meditation (TM), Siddha Yoga meditation, Buddhist Vipassana, and Christian Centering Prayer. She also completed professional and advanced training programs with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Washington, D.C., in order to gain a solid understanding of the many medical benefits and science behind meditation practices. In the early 2000s, she created her own approach to teaching meditation to others, Meditating for Life, as well as a six-month teacher training program.

In addition to teaching meditation, Lynda writes about and offers classes, workshops and other programs on such themes as peace as spiritual practice, the rise of more feminine forms of spirituality, and the unique metaphysical role women are being called to in these times. She was called to this work in her early 40s – in the middle of a successful career in the marketing communications field – by a mystical encounter that led her to learn to meditate and study a variety of spiritual traditions. She then was led to a yoga path and woman spiritual teacher, and began to have dreams, visions and guidance about bringing women together to offer spiritual service to the world. Her response to this guidance was Vessels of Peace, an interfaith spiritual service community for women that was active from 2002-2010. Her book, The 11 Intentions, shares the story of that journey and work, along with the practices that were given to help women have a more personal experience of the Divine Feminine.

During that same decade, Lynda collaborated widely with a network of leaders in the emerging field of subtle activism and, through her women’s networks, provided space-holding, prayer and meditation support to a number of organizations and initiatives, such as The Shift Network’s Summer of Peace (2011, 2012), The Gaiafield Project’s Wise USA Program (2008, 2012, 2016), and the Parliament of the World’s Religions gatherings (2009, 2015).

Lynda serves on the board of the DreamWeather Foundation, on the advisory council for International Cities of Peace, and is a founding member of the Women’s Dreaming Council, Her essay, “Becoming a Vessel of Peace,” is featured in the award-winning 2011 book, Women, Spirituality and Transformative Leadership: Where Grace Meets Power. Her essay, “Speak Me into Silence,” is featured in the 2017 book, Mature Interspirituality: Wayne Teasdale’s Nine Elements – and Beyond.

In addition to her meditation training, Lynda has bachelor and master’s degrees from Gannon University and has completed peacemaking training through the National Peace Academy and Shift University’s Peace Ambassador Training program.
